This is why I can't have nice things.

Literally screamed out loud. THIS IS EVERYTHING I WANTED and their expressions ahhhh thank you Nicole!!

HOORAY! I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a scream over my art before. I feel like a rock star!

I love the “artist’s hand”. It just makes me happy when I have it others do. It’s awesome. And this is turning out just beautiful!

I love just about any kind of mess so long as it was caused my art supplies. Artist’s hand makes me feel accomplished. The messes are what I miss most about taking art classes in undergrad and what feels like it’s missing from digital work for me. Walking around with swipes of dried paint or smudges of charcoal or (one memorable weekend) carbon embedded in my skin and under my nails from making ink with my intaglio printmaking class just felt like announcing to the world, “HEY! I make art. Also, I am five.” It’s weirdly satisfying.

I’m currently wearing the hoodie I kept in the studio during my painting classes - the front pocket is covered in bits of oil paint from when I used it to wipe off my brushes. If I can’t make giant art messes at home, I can at least wear one of my old messes while I draw/paint.

/STRONG FEELINGS ABOUT MAKING ART MESSES
